National Climate Action Day 2023

The 22nd of September 2023 was National Climate Action Day, which Nørre G supported by integrating several activities to increase climate awareness.

The annual Climate Action Day is an occasion for organizations, institutions, workplaces etc. to find and commit to actions, which will reduce green house gas emissions in the communities that we work, live in, and use. Many students are very conscious of climate and sustainability. Some are focused on saving the planet, while others are burdened by climate-related shame or worry for the future. By participating in the Climate Action Day, Nørre G aims to bring some hope and show a path forward. There is a lot we can do to make the planet a greener and cleaner place - especially when we work together.

The day began with a joint kick off where Selma De Montgomery, Rune Lykkeberg and Alexander Holm spoke in a virtual pep talk session. After the virtual pep talk session we planted and inaugurated a Nørre G oak tree since oak trees play an important part in the fight against climate change and global warming. The rest of the day went off by examining challenges regarding circular economy, energy forms, and biodiversity. Some used their creativity and made new creations of old materials, wrote songs and poems about the climate while others initiated meaningful cooperations with local concerns and NGOs.

Afterwards, students took off together for the climate demonstration at Christiansborg.
